The K-9 Unit
consists of Corporal G. Bobo and his canine partner Matjo, and Officer Jason
Woodruff and his canine partner Eiko.
Corporal G. Bobo and Matjo
Corporal G. Bobo is a six year veteran with the department and ten year veteran
in law enforcement. Pes Kratka Kontrolovany (Matjo) is a black and tan male
German Shepherd, born on August 7, 2004 in the Czech Republic. Matjo was
purchased by the Gulf Shores Police Department in October 2005, and Corporal
Bobo was selected to be Matjo's handler.
Together, they trained for ten weeks at the Escambia County (FL.) Sheriff's
Office K-9 center. Matjo is trained in drug detection, tracking and
apprehension.
Matjo and Cpl. Bobo certify annually with the United States Police Canine
Association.

Officer
Woodruff and Eiko
Officer Jason Woodruff has been a police officer with the department since 1997,
and a member of the K9 Unit since 2002. Eiko is Officer Woodruff’s second K9
partner. Eiko is a black and tan male German Shepherd, born on April 1, 2002 in
Germany. Eiko was purchased by the department in September, 2003.
Officer Woodruff completed his 10 week Basic K9 Handler course at the Escambia
County (FL) Sheriff’s Office K9 Center in 2002. Eiko is trained in Tracking,
Criminal Search and Apprehension, Evidence Search, Obedience, and Drug
Detection.
Eiko and Officer Woodruff certify annually with the United States Police Canine
Association.
